The pine pollen is pretty bad

Each year, even though the weather is so nice, we wait until after the 2-3 week pine pollen season before opening our screen porch.  The pollen gets everywhere.  I think we have at least a week more to go.

I took these pictures in our driveway, before hosing down the car.

At what highway speed with this rig go airborne?

How about it, Dad?  You're an aeronautical (did I spell that right?) engineer....

Before/After... and in between

Phil and his accomplice from Black Diamond Carpentry installed an in-the-wall air conditioner for us yesterday.  It should nicely condition the air in the L-shape that is formed by our kitchen and family room.  Seems a bit big at 14,000 BTUs for 470 s.f. but that's the recommendation based on the fact that the area includes a kitchen.  Also, the pilot light on the gas fireplace is kept "on" year-round [to eliminate condensation inside the system] which adds some heat to the room.

Now all we need is the electrician.  With 220 volts it needs its own circuit.

Here are some before and after shots... with a few taken in between.

A few flowers and plants around my mother's house

It's a beautiful day today with temps in the mid-70s and bright blue sky.  Because of the harsh light I tried to take most of these in the shade.  I was at my mother's house and had my point and shoot camera in the car.  This is a mixture of cultivated plants and wild plants.  I even got a decent dandelion picture!

What does this make you think of?

Cottonballs, perhaps?
