Just bought my first new pair of skis in over 12 years. A pair of Volkl AC30's

R.J. Bradley's is a ski shop on Rt. 110 in Westford, near the 99 Restaurant.  You can see Nashoba Mountain (also known as Crashoba, and Nashoba Bump) in the not-so distance.

The skis I bought are much shorter (177 cm) than my old Rossignols (205cm) but with the "shaped" design and wider construction of the new skis they should provide good stability.  I am told they ski much differently than the older, pencil-shaped skis, resulting in easier turning.  I can't wait to try them out.

Volkl skis come with Marker bindings.  This is also a new concept for me, as in the past one bought skis and bindings seperately.

Another generation falls in love.... with Cheerios!

For those that don't know, you have to thank Costco and BJ's for these mega-sized boxes of cereal!

A beautiful and dramatic sunset

For anyone living in New England, you couldn't miss the everychanging weather today.  Starting off with grey skies, by late afternoon the sky was blue with some high flying white clouds.  Then the dark clouds set in, with snow showers.  I took this picture outside our office building as the setting sun shined under the dark clouds causing some of them to pick up the red/orange color.  This picture was taken at 4:10 pm.

December 25: Merry Christmas

Taken in Littleton last night, on Dahlya Street.  This yard and the vacant lot across the street are decorated with lights every year.  It is a "must see" event.

Big snow fall over the weekend

My best guess is that we got 8" of fluffy snow.  It was pretty to see it on the ground when we awoke Sunday morning, knowing that we did not need to drive anywhere.  Got the snowblower out about 3pm, after the snow stopped and the Patriots were safely ahead of the Buffalo Bills.  (Can you believe it, it was actually sunny in Buffalo.)  After Laurie and I finished snowblowing and shoveling out the cars, we were treated to a wonderful sunset seen through the trees, up by the high school.  The two sunset shots here are right from my pocket camera.  The only setting I changed was to switch to the "sunset" scene mode.  The colors were really this saturated.

A nice lunchtime Christmas party at the office Thursday

My contribution - the cookies in the red tin.  My specialty!  (Actually the only cookies I know how to make: Toll House cookies with red and green M&M's to make them Christmas-y.)

Amazing pictures of my windshield

I took these pictures this morning before warming up my car. It was about 7:30a and the car was covered in a sheet of ice. These decorations "adorned" the windows on three sides of the car (not the side closest to the house, which was presumably warmer). Isn't nature wonderful?

Cool taxi

I spotted this taxi at the Concord train depot. Below is a closeup of the trunk. Does anyone know who makes this car?

PieGiving 2009 - another wonderful event

Saturday's PieGiving was a great success. Plenty of pies, plenty of conversation, and even a rousing game of whiffle ball.

See the slide show of about 40 images here:

Thanksgiving 2009 - a wonderful event...

For Laurie and me it was great to have so many here for Thanksgiving. Altogether... 15 1/2. (photos for Saturday's PieGiving will be posted soon, as well.)

It was fun and the food was fantastic. I have posted about 40 images on Zenfolio. Fastest method of reviewing all of them is the slideshow option, with a direct link below:

Or, if you want to go through the pictures one at a time, here's a link for that:

Just got delivery on some new furniture

A great place to buy wood furniture is Country Woods Unfinished Furniture in Raymond, NH. You can finish the furniture yourself or pay an additional charge to have them do the work.

Their Web site is

The two cottage style pieces we purchased are made of maple and we chose to have them finish it with Early American minwax stain and a few coats of lacquer.

I had to drill some custom holes through the back of the TV cabinet for the wires from our receiver and cable box, while Laurie organized the bookcase.

Two turkeys come for a visit

18 1/4 pound and 13 1/4 pound turkeys came for a visit this weekend and are resting comfortably. The larger one is looking forward to doing some outdoor charcoal grilling with me on Thursday!
